Now that photographs are digital it's all too easy to lose them. Memory cards are larger and larger so it takes longer and longer to download the pictures. It is not difficult for it to slip from memory or to be set aside, and just as easy to lose the tiny memory cards, or folders full of pictures if the disk on your computer should crash. That did happen to me once when I lost a whole summer's worth of pictures, along with some of a pictures of a much loved dog, which though I didn't know at the time, were the last I would take of him.
Here are some ideas to avoid the problem.
1. Use a digital camera and a portable printer. Take the printer with you on vacation and start your scrapbook on a rainy day, you can always add to or alter your layouts later, but this way you are assured that you have hard copies of the photographs to keep safe. Always print a set of your pictures even if you usually store them on PC.
2. Instead of having one memory card with a large storage space, go for several smaller memory cards. Some of my memory cards take so long to download now that's one of the reasons I put off printing the pictures.
3. Wipe out all the data in the memory cards prior to your trip. Make sure you know where your memory cards are and what are in them so you won't have trouble finding a certain picture.
4. Choose a printer that has its own memory card interface so you would not have to go through a computer in order to print.
5. Remember when you used to get your pictures developed? Take your memory cards to the local pharmacy and get printouts.
6. Don't get addicted to perfection. Pictures that have not been digitally manipulated can be used too. And if they need to be cropped? Use scissors.
7. Store your pictures carefully. As the resolution of digital cameras improves, our photographs get bigger and bigger. If you take a lot of pictures you need a lot of storage for them, and if you want to be able to get to them all the time you need to keep them on disk. Network attached storage is a way of buying more diskspace and attaching it to your network rather than to any one individual computer. You'll be able to access the pictures from any computer in the house and using wireless digital photoframes display the pictures in a constantly moving slideshow.
8. Give your pictures meaningful names. It can be frustrating trying to find a picture and not remembering where you saved it. I find it very worthwhile to spend time naming the pictures when I download a memory card. Then I can find them with a simple search.
9. Use an organizer tool to file your pictures where you can find them. Picasa from google is a free tool you can use to organize your photographs and share them on the web. Graphic programs like photoshop elements also contain an organizer function which allows you to tag pictures individually or in groups.
10. Burn your pictures to a CD or DVD for a more long term storage. The best solution of all is to write your photographs to DVD as soon as you download them. You can then store the DVD carefully for the future (labeled with your vacation date) and should your pictures ever get lost or destroyed you can restore them from your DVD backup.
The best solution is not to put off the scrapbooking! Get your pictures and albums out and start creating more records of you precious family memories.

You can use the same technique to cut out shoes and add some tiny flowers where the buckles would be. Personally I like to finish most things with a little transparent glitter, but not everyone likes glitter as much as I do!
Flower embellishments can be made by cutting out flowers from any flowery scrapbooking paper, such as the le-romantique two sided paper 'loves labyrinth'. The design features a number of rose pairs. Make a base out of an entire design then cut out a few choice elements. Add these to the base with a spot of silicone glue and tease into a 3D shape. Once dry, you can add a little clear glitter as a finish. The result is an embellishment which will be a perfect match for a layout made with the l-romantique papers, tags and frames.
Another option is to create flowers out of die cuts or even more cheaply using a stencil or template such as '20 Blossoms' from Hot off the Press. Many sheets of acrylic stamps include different sized flower heads. You can stamp these, cut them out and layer them together, gently curling the petals for a 3D effect. For something modern try 'Mindy's flowers' from Mindy Terawasa which provides swirls and stems you can stamp on your scrapbook pages while you add the 3d flower heads you have created. For a truly delicate look, try making your flower head from vellum and add just a tiny amount of sparkle. Then you can make a bouquet by simply gluing several flower heads together.
Tiny 3D flowers look great attached to almost anything, a conventional tag, even one originally designed for a parcel, can be made to look good with a few 3d flowers. A heart motif is definitely one that fits the wedding theme. It is readily available so you would have no trouble finding it. There are several craft punches that can make different heart configurations, but don't just use the cut outs. You can use the heart punches to embellish your wedding pages by cutting a strip of paper, plain if your background is patterned, patterned if your background is plain. Punch the strip and remove the punched out hearts (for use on other pages), then either placing the paper strip back direct over your background, or put a ribbon below it to make a very decorative border. Ribbon can be very useful in creating a contrast of texture as well as color and satin ribbon provides a beautiful shiny surface which looks very luxurious.
